Why am I Running?
I am running because I feel the state of MN is headed in the wrong direction. As a business owner and a real estate agent with 27+ years of negotiating experience I feel I will bring common sense and accountability to St. Paul. We need common sense values to get the state back on track.
By addressing the critical issues below with a focus on lower taxes, freedom of speech, and religious freedom, we can uphold individual liberties, promote personal autonomy, and ensure that Minnesota remains a beacon of freedom and opportunity for all. Let's work together to protect our rights and build a stronger, more prosperous future for our state.
Lower Taxes And Fiscal Responsibility:
Minnesotans deserve a tax system that promotes economic growth and prosperity. We must advocate for lower taxes across the board, including income taxes, property taxes and business taxes. By reducing the tax burden on individuals and businesses, we can stimulate job creation, encourage investment, and empower families to keep more of their hard-earned money. Fiscal responsibility and efficient government spending are essential for ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future for all Minnesotans. I will work towards reducing taxes. Businesses have been leaving Minnesota to go to states that are more tax friendly. We need to support our business owners by not adding any unnecessary mandates on them. Social security income should not be taxed for our seniors. Many of my clients that have sold their home and moved out of the state have done so due to political or economic reasons. Inflation and the gas prices are out of control - we are all paying more for everything. I will work towards reducing taxes and returning any future surplus to the tax payers. I will not agree to any gas tax increases, at least during my 1st term.
Public Safety:
Ensuring the safety and security of all Minnesotans is paramount. We need to support law enforcement agencies and provide them with the resources they need to protect our communities. This includes cracking down on crime, addressing root causes such as drug trafficking and gang violence, and promoting community policing initiatives that foster trust and collaboration between law enforcement and residents. We must also advocate for tough sentencing for violent criminals while offering rehabilitation opportunities for non-violent offenders. Our police need to be supported, not defunded. We can’t afford to have more police officers quit or retire early as this makes our streets less safe. We need to find a way to get more people interested in becoming a police officer. Crime and the lack of enforcement of our laws are hurting all of us -many of us don’t feel safe anymore. 91% of women in MN over the age of 55 do not feel safe. Catch and release should be only for fishing!
Education:
It's time to prioritize reforms that empower parents, teachers, and local communities in education decision-making. This includes promoting school choice initiatives such as charter schools and voucher programs, ensuring accountability in education spending, and prioritizing outcomes-based measures over bureaucratic mandates. Every child deserves access to a quality education that prepares them for success, regardless of their ZIP code. The pandemic allowed parents to become more aware of what their kids are being taught. Critical Race Theory (CRT) or politics does not belong in our schools. Teachers need to focus on the basics such as: reading, writing, math and life skills. Approximately 40% of students cannot read at grade level, yet they are allowed to graduate. School choice and allowing the state tax dollars for schooling to follow the student is something I would support.
Heath & Medical Freedom:
Protecting individuals' rights to make their own healthcare decisions and maintain medical freedom is essential. We must oppose any mandates or regulations that infringe upon personal choice and bodily autonomy, including vaccine mandates and forced medical procedures. Upholding the principle of informed consent, promoting access to a variety of healthcare options, and ensuring that medical decisions remain between patients and their healthcare providers are crucial for safeguarding individual liberties and preserving the doctor-patient relationship. Minnesotans should be able to make their own decisions about their health care, with the guidance of their doctors. Making masks and vaccines mandatory is something I will never support. Neither mask nor vaccines have been proven to work. Big Pharma has too much control over our lives and if there is anything I can do to limit their control, I will. I would love to see more support and education for holistic treatments as that is how I have lived my life for the last 16+ years.
Pro-Life/Abortion:
I personally am pro-life and believe that life begins at conception. Banning abortions is unlikely to happen in MN, however approximately 80% of Minnesotans believe that allowing abortions up to birth is extreme. I feel the government should not be funding abortions. Instead of focusing on banning abortions, I will choose to support and promote organizations like www.OptionsMankato.org. I have visited their location and was very impressed with their work and mission. The director said, 85% of the women that walk in wanting to have an abortion change their mind and have the baby. Another focus would be to help make adoption easier and less expensive. I would also support reinstating the following requirements:
- The requirement for a 48-hour waiting period before an abortion may be performed;
- The requirement that a minor’s parents be notified before an abortion is performed;
- The requirement that an abortion be performed by physicians only and;
- The requirement that facts about the risks associated with abortion be disclosed to the mother.
Second Amendment:
Protecting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens is essential to safeguarding individual freedoms and preserving our constitutional heritage. We must oppose efforts to infringe upon the rights of responsible gun owners and instead focus on addressing the root causes of crime through targeted enforcement of existing laws, mental health initiatives, and community-based solutions. Upholding the right to keep and bear arms is critical for ensuring the safety and security of our families and communities. I support the 2nd amendment and am against gun control. Law abiding citizens should not have their rights stripped due to the actions of criminals. Something definitely needs to be done to stop these mass shootings, but taking away the guns is not the answer. There are so many things that I feel contribute to the real problem: mental health, lack of a stable family unit, illegal and legal drugs, and many more…
Election Integrity And Voter Confidence:
Ensuring the integrity of our elections is fundamental to upholding democracy and preserving the voice of the people. We must advocate for measures that safeguard the electoral process, such as voter ID requirements, secure ballot handling procedures, and regular voter roll maintenance to prevent fraud and ensure that every vote counts. By promoting transparency and accountability in our electoral system, we can strengthen voter confidence and uphold the integrity of our democracy. We need to keep paper ballots, get rid of the ballot drop boxes, require voter IDs and make mail-in ballots or absentee ballots only used when absolutely necessary. There needs to be an equal amount of Republican and Democratic judges at each voting location
Freedom Of Speech:
Protecting freedom of speech is essential for maintaining a vibrant and diverse marketplace of ideas. We must oppose any attempts to censor or silence individuals based on their viewpoints or beliefs, whether it be on college campuses, social media platforms, or in public discourse. Upholding the First Amendment rights of all citizens, regardless of political ideology, is critical for preserving our democratic values and fostering open dialogue and debate.
Religious Freedom:
Religious freedom is a foundational principle enshrined in the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. We must defend the rights of individuals and religious institutions to freely exercise their faith without fear of discrimination or government intrusion. This includes protecting religious organizations' ability to operate in accordance with their beliefs, safeguarding the rights of conscience for healthcare professionals, and ensuring that government policies respect and accommodate diverse religious practices and beliefs.
